ADE recap
We're still singeing from Thursday night where the atmosphere exceeded even our expectations. Estroe on great form (three sets in two different rooms - phew!) and a totally unleashed Vitalic made sure to almost blow the roof off the Melkweg. A massive thanks to Ritzi who provided a last minute drum machine to replace Vitalic's who had been expertly broken by Air France. The old room was also packed to capacity for the much anticipated live by Boris Divider, Alter Ego and Quince. And last but by no means least: thanks to all of you who attended. You were truly electric!

Lowlands
I have liased with Lowlands to present an exciting lineup consisting of Andrew Weatherall, Antony Rother (Live), Abe Duque (Live) and Dutch local Darko Esser. I have chosen all the artists out of pure respect, Weatherall because he is one the most versatile and yet uncompromising leftfield dj's out there, Rother because he is the Electro King (and writer of the White Noise theme tune), Duque because he is Mr Dirty Acid Sleaze and D Esser for his service to the Nijmegen underground. This is the first time in Lowlands history that the Bravo tent has been handed over to a DJ, and for those of you unintiated in the delights of Lowlands, it is a festival that is held very dear to the Dutch heart. See you there.

Dave Clarke Hosts the Green Room
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
To celebrate ILT's tenth anniversary on Saturday 12th November, Dave Clarke, still one of the worlds top DJ's and producers responsible for self penned classics like "Archive One" and "Devils Advocate", was given the task of establishing the green room line-up. He put together a historical list of names that have and continue to inspire him, focusing on key artists and founding fathers. For example Derrick May, a man who, together with Atkins and Saunderson, could be considered one of the founders of the genre and went down in history by writing tracks as "Strings Of Life" and "Nude Photo". Later on May got company from a second wave of Detroit producers such as the cult band Underground Resistance, who in the early nineties consisted of Jeff Mills, "Mad" Mike Banks and Robert Hood. Another Motorcity man is DJ Bone, known through his underground labels Subject Detroit and Encounter. But also in Europe the eighties brought a refreshing wind to electronical music. At that time Douglas McCarthy had an undeniable influence on the
Electronic Body Music band Nitzer Ebb. At ILT he will be joined by techno musician Terence Fixmer. Deg is a Belgian product who has been rocking the legendary Fuse club since 1997. And of course we couldn't do without Dave Clarke himself who as an ILT veteran and stalwart of all things techno will play a special extended 3 hour set.
Green Room Line Up:
20.00 - 21.15 Deg
21.15 - 22.45 DJ Bone
22.45 - 00.45 Derrick May
00.45 - 01.30 Terence Fixmer + McCarthy (live)

My my my Girona
Just a late note to say a massive thank you to everyone who rocked Palm Beach on the 26th of August, it was a fantastic night with a truly electric atmosphere, something I will remember for a long time to come, hopefully I will see you all next year.

July/August
Well it's almost at the end of August and one hell of schedule is almost behind me. There have been some really good high points, Nature One in Germany was as special as ever, the production is always high quality and the crowd were truly global (even from Chicago), Mykonos was a great party with loads of people from Napoli spicing things up, I finally got to San Sebastian after 3 aborted attempts and again had a really fiery gig, Monegroes was rammed to the gills, but for me the gig of the past 2 months and probably the year was T in the Park, absolutely fantastic, electric atmosphere, and amazing production truly memorable for all the right reasons. All thats left is a boat party where I arrive at Stockholm one day and leave from Helsinki the next, Girona and everyone's favourite northern club Chibuku at Creamfields.Hope to see you there.

World Service 2
For more info about World Service 2 please go to the Links page on this site:
Coming off the back of his well-received Devil's Advocate and Live albums and recent remixes for DJ Hell and Terence Fixmer, Dave Clarke is on blistering form with this sequel to 2001's opening salvo of World Service. As with the original World Service, which sold over 70,000 copies across the globe, Clarke raises the bar for techno and electro DJs everywhere. Completely mixed on his beloved Technics DZ 1200 CD decks, World Service 2 is chopped, scratched and cut up with devastating hip hop-influenced panache. Clarke is at the top of his game. Wowing crowds internationally, from 25,000 ravers in Brazil to ever-welcoming fans packing Belgium's FUSE Club, his knowledge of cutting edge music remains honed and tight, his attitude as invigoratingly enthused as ever.
Techno and electro isn't just dance music,'he says, It's a challenging alternative to all the music that bleeds kids dry and doesn't progress anything, the music I call opium music. I don't want my albums to be racked in shops next to all that ' I've got absolutely no respect for it whatsoever; I want to be the alternative.'
On these two CDs he lives up to such fighting talk. The Electro mix starts out twisting through tracks by his old International Deejay Gigolo muckers David Caretta and the Hacker before diving into tough British grit represented by the likes of Chris McCormack and The Advent from Billy Nasty's Electrix label. Naturally there s the requisite dose of sex'n sleazing on board right from the very start when Kim Peers requires a motherlode of rude lovin', as does the equally lewd Junesex on Fast Food Messiahs. Clarke also throws in a surprises which hark back to his post-punk roots on tracks such as GDX's version of 'This Corrosion' (originally by iconic goth band the Sisters Of Mercy), or the closing hip-as-fuck punk-funk of New Yorkers Silicone Soul asking a question relevant to many who ve taken to the dancefloor as Clarke performs a peak-time DJ set''Who Needs Sleep Tonight?'
Clarke's take on techno is no less refreshing. Over 26 tracks he journeys through a huge variety of styles, embracing the dark rude humour of Detroit's booty-tek but never losing sight of a thread of crunching four-to-the-floor dynamism. The pace seldom lets up from the opening demands by Underground Resistance's Mad Mike Banks to'find your strength in the sound and make your transition'to the echoing outer space robot fade-out of AJ McGhee's 'Octapie' at the CD's close. Along the way DJ Rush asks us to 'Sex Me All Night Long', DJ Funk wants you to 'Put Yo Back N 2 It'and there's even a track from 1980 by Japanese electronic legend Ryuchi Sakamoto. The majority of techno DJs have an unbridled passion for it,'says Clarke by way of explanation, and they also have technical skills that are way above other genre DJs.His underground techno selection throbs with restless adrenalin, not concerned with titles or individual artists, it does what techno does bestgives computer music a raw funk and contagious punch that hauls listeners and dancers in.
'If I don't do this','says Dave Clarke of his music and DJing,'I can't even judge myself as a human being'it's in my blood and bones.'
One listen to these two energy-jammed CDs and it will be in yours too.
